Hopes Longing

In summer breeze & skies of blue

I thought of you today

From my corner, caught a glimpse

And hope it to be true

I remember how you held me close

And loved me all along

You were the one who taught me

That life was like a song

I know that you were sad to go

I know you asked to stay

The Mighty gave the word with woe

So with billowed sails, you sailed away

In silent darkness there I lay

My soul an empty well

No word could soothe, no touch could heal

The break of sorrow’s tale

The world moved on like nothing changed

A cruel and heartless plan

Life without your sweet grace

Seemed more than I could stand

Here in this garden I now sit

In hopes you will arrive

To visit for a little bit

My broken heart revived

Beyond the gate I hear a tune

The melody so sweet & fine

It calls to me “come dance

Yet I linger for a sign

Pausing at the garden’s gate

Your voice upon the wind doth say

That time moves on, it does not wait

In life and love and play
